“I have always wanted to be a Construction Manager and doing this course gave me an opportunity to achieve my goal and develop my career.

My course involved subjects like: Building Services, Health & Safety, Construction Site Surveying, Substructure, Construction Contracts, Site Planning, CAD, Materials, Building Measures & Cost Studies etc. It also involved team work, meeting new friends and adapting to new responsibilities.

As well as enjoying these subjects, I have also enjoyed the chance to meet new people, work in teams and share my ideas with my fellow students.

The highlight of my time in College was taking part in a placement at Marr College which helped me to gain the right industry experience, and gave me a wider understanding of Construction Management.   It was also a great opportunity to learn new skills from people who have been working in the construction industry for a long time.

I learned more about health and safety, site organisation, site documentation and site rules. The placement also helped me to develop my organisation skills and, as English is not my first language, gave me the confidence to improve my communication skills.

I am extremely happy to have won this award. I feel more confident as all my hard work has paid off. I also feel grateful that I was able to overcome all concerns and barriers.

Ayrshire College helped me to achieve my goals and develop my career. This course helped me to gain necessary qualifications that I needed to get into university, where I am continuing my education in Construction Management.

Once I finish university, I would like to become a Site Construction Manager and expand my knowledge in this direction.”
