In the lead-up to the Ayr Campus graduation we will unveil our graduation prizewinners. At the Ayr graduation, there are 15 recipients in total.
Next, is Student of the Year – Outstanding Achievement Award, Darcey Bird, HNC Social Sciences.
“I left school and was unsure of what I wanted to study so I chose this course because I believe it’s a broad course that would give me many options.
I have a serious visual impairment, so I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to see boards and keep up with the coursework. I needn’t have worried as the college provided me with all of the support I required.
I studied many different areas of social sciences, included psychology, sociology, history and politics.
I enjoyed the independence I was given when learning, but I was still given guidance when I needed it. I also really enjoyed the research aspect of the course.
I am a lot more confident now and can speak easily in public. I also learned to Harvard Reference.
I am very proud of myself but also very shocked to have won this award! I worked very hard but didn’t expect this. It will look very good on my CV and definitely help me in my future studies and in gaining employment.
I am going to complete my HND in Social Sciences and then choose a specific area of study, ending with a university degree.”
